Intense, persistent tooth pain can signal decay, nerve damage, or infection. Don't wait, early treatment prevents the problem from getting worse. We'll identify the cause and provide relief fast.

Accidents happen. Whether from trauma, a fall, or biting down on something hard, a damaged tooth often needs urgent treatment to prevent pain, infection, and further damage.

Act within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving the tooth. Keep it moist, in milk or back in the socket if possible and call us immediately. We'll guide you on what to do on the way in.

An abscess is a serious infection that should never be ignored. Signs include swelling, throbbing pain, fever, and a bad taste in your mouth. We assess severity, relieve pain, and treat the infection to prevent it spreading.

A missing filling or crown can expose vulnerable tooth tissue, causing sensitivity and pain. We provide same-day temporary or permanent solutions depending on your situation.

Uncontrolled gum bleeding, trauma to the soft tissue, or sudden severe soreness can all require urgent examination. Don't leave it, contact us right away.

Facial or jaw swelling usually indicates infection or abscess. This can become dangerous if left untreated. Contact us immediately or attend A&E if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing.

Wisdom teeth can erupt at awkward angles causing intense pain and swelling. Flare-ups often need prompt treatment, we'll assess the situation and discuss your options clearly.
When you arrive in pain, the last thing you need is a rushed, confusing experience. At Gibside Dental, our approach is straightforward:
Whether you’re registered with us or walking in for the first time, you will be seen and treated with the same level of care.
Many of our emergency patients haven’t visited a dentist in years, often because of fear or a bad experience elsewhere. Our team is experienced in caring for nervous patients and we’ll never rush, pressure, or judge you.
We take a calm, gentle approach at every appointment. From the moment you walk in, our reception team will put you at ease. Your dentist will talk you through every step, check in with how you’re feeling, and only proceed when you’re comfortable and ready.
You do not need to be a registered patient to receive emergency dental treatment at Gibside Dental. We accept walk-ins and new patients for emergency appointments whenever we can.
If you’d like to become a regular patient after your emergency, you’re more than welcome but there is absolutely no obligation. Your immediate care comes first.
A dental emergency includes severe or worsening tooth pain, a knocked-out or broken tooth, dental abscess, facial swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or a lost filling or crown causing significant discomfort. When in doubt, call us, we’ll advise you over the phone.
Yes. You do not need to be a registered patient at Gibside Dental to receive emergency care. We welcome new and unregistered patients for emergency appointments.
We aim to offer same-day emergency appointments wherever possible. Call us on 0191 743 4349 as early as possible so we can arrange the soonest available slot.
Handle the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently with milk or saline, and if possible, place it back into the socket. If that’s not possible, keep it in cold milk and call us immediately. Time is critical, ideally within 30 minutes.
Signs of a dental abscess include throbbing pain, swelling around the tooth or jaw, a bad taste in your mouth, fever, and sensitivity to temperature. If you have facial swelling, difficulty swallowing, or breathing, attend A&E immediately.
We offer Saturday morning appointments (9am–1pm) and extended Tuesday hours until 7:30pm. Call us to check availability during bank holidays or reduced periods.
Your dentist will listen to your symptoms, carry out a thorough assessment (including X-rays if needed), provide immediate pain relief, and explain your treatment options clearly before anything is done. We never proceed without your understanding and consent.
Costs vary depending on the treatment required. We’ll always discuss fees with you before any treatment begins. We also offer 0% finance to help spread the cost.
Absolutely. We specialise in caring for anxious patients and take a calm, patient-led approach throughout every appointment. Many of our emergency patients haven’t visited a dentist in years, you’re in safe, understanding hands.
A&E can provide temporary pain relief or antibiotics in serious cases (especially if you have facial swelling, fever, or difficulty breathing/swallowing), but they are not equipped to provide dental treatment. Always contact an emergency dentist for proper dental care.
